Case Study | From Manual to Managed: How MMS Distribution Automated Sales with Aleran

The Customer & The Challenge:

New York-based MMS Distribution knew there was a way to scale their sales – fast.

However, due to outdated software, manual sales order entries, and insufficient integration, the sales process was time-consuming and prone to errors. Email sales orders either getting lost or experiencing delays in response, ultimately impacting sales.

MMS Distribution knew B2B ecommerce was possible and the missing piece to the revenue puzzle. MMS Distribution also knew it needed to integrate with an ERP to easily and seamlessly manage sales, orders, inventory, warehouses, invoices, and serve as a general operations hub.

The Approach:

MMS Distribution selected Aleran and Cin7 Omni after its team conducted research, including watching videos, speaking to sales teams and engaging in product demos.

It needed a tech stack that could support retail and direct-to-wholesale sales. And could also be a strong foundation for multiple Shopify accounts and Amazon.

Matthew Stern, Chief Sales Officer for MMS Distribution said the company ultimately chose Aleran because they needed a holistic platform that could seamlessly integrate with their inventory management system Cin7 Omni, which they described as the perfect fit. They also needed a solution that could eliminate the need for email sales order management and get them selling online for ecommerce multi-channel sales.

“We knew we needed a holistic platform to manage our inventory better, automate sales order management and accelerate our selling efforts online and across all of our sales channels,” said Stern. “The combination of Cin7 Omni and Aleran has allowed us to do just that.”

The Results:

MMS Distribution has been making incremental gains over the past 13 months as the integration has been complete between Aleran and Cin7 Omni.

“Aleran and staff were very supportive throughout the integration and definitely took the time to understand our needs as well as the structure of our business and how operations should flow,” said Stern. “Aleran has been great at creating solutions for our everyday issues.”

As orders are now input through Aleran to Cin7 Omni, they automatically populate into Cin7 Omni for the MMS Distribution operations team to process. This has removed the manual entry and coding of products and pricing per order, which saves time and increases accuracy.

“Cin7 has been a solid “home base,” said Stern. “It has been very versatile and accommodating for our needs and integrations. We are very happy with how seamlessly they work together.”
